Redact PII before ChatGPT sees it. 100% in your browser. Zero servers.
Works offline — try airplane mode.
Nothing to install yet. Shield is built but not published to the Chrome Web Store, and the source is not public. This page describes what it will do — everything below is the planned behaviour, not a shipped product.
How It Works
Three steps. No servers. No accounts. No trust required.
Step 1
You Type
Write your prompt naturally — names, emails, anything.
Step 2
Shield Redacts
PII is replaced with safe placeholders before it leaves your browser.
Step 3
ChatGPT Never Sees It
The LLM processes sanitized text. Your data stays on your machine.
Still works with WiFi off
What Gets Redacted
Local regex patterns catch these common formats before they leave your machine.

Honest Limitations
We would rather under-promise than over-sell your safety.
--Pattern-based detection has known limitations — unusual name formats or uncommon transliterations will not be caught unless added to the custom dictionary.
--Regex patterns cover common formats (US SSN, major card networks) — not every global variant.
--Context-dependent PII (e.g., "my address is the blue house") requires semantic understanding we don't yet have.
--This is not a substitute for enterprise DLP. It's a practical first line of defense for individuals.
